Heading to HITS Ocala March 13 for my Book Signing!

I'll be participating at the Purina Mill's Kids Day at HITS Show Circuit on Sunday, March 13 from 11 am - 1 pm. This annual event open to the public is especially for young horse lovers and held at Post Time Farm on Hwy 27 in Ocala, Fl (west of I-75). Mounted demonstrations, vendors, a Bounce and other fun activities will be available.

A special craft project we'll be offering for youngsters this year will be decorating metal pony horseshoes with glitter, sequins and bling! We'll have other horse and dog novelties as well for sale.

Besides selling and signing her mystery novels and Beloved Horses series, Sharon will do readings from my Beginner Reader dog book, "Woogie's Travels - Looking for a Friend." Weather permitting, I'll be there again to greet my fans!

Sharon's latest book, "Beloved Horses in Second Careers," features an Ocala horseman, Chester C. Weber and his Horse of the Year, Jamaica, who is the foundation horse for Team Weber the Combined Driving Champions.

The fifth book in the series will describe horses and breeds from around the world and interviews will continue through April. The book will be released in this fall.

Again, we'll have a special table with horse books by other authors and misc items available with a donation to the St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital. Three of our immediate family members had cancer recently, including Sharon's 17-year-old nephew who passed away after a brave battle with leukemia and her adult son, Garret, in 2009. Cancer research needs to be expanded.

Florida Nature

Sandhill Cranes migrate here to Florida in the winter from northern regions. They can usually be found in pairs and when flying, one can hear their "unison calling" or trumpet-like calls. I spotted a pair near a gas station in a Tampa suburb! This was one of them.

The Sandhill Crane has a red forehead, white cheeks and a long dark pointed bill. Its long dark legs trail behind in flight, and the long neck is kept straight in flight. Its large wingspan, which is 6–8 feet when fully grown, makes this a very skilled soaring bird similar in style to hawks and eagles. Utilizing thermals to obtain lift, they can stay aloft for many hours, requiring only occasional flapping of their wings and consequently expending little energy. With migratory flocks containing hundreds of birds, they can create clear outlines of the normally invisible rising columns of air (thermals) that they ride. (Wikipedia)

Little Italian Pizza Event

On Sunday afternoon, we took a truck ride to the Florida gulf beach of Sand Key for a book signing at Little Italian Pizza. We set up on their back deck by the water. Yum! I love their pizza bones!

And I met some new friends who gave me dog treats. That's Shelby at the top and Kaden below.

I wanted to swim but my mom just gave me a bath and wouldn't let me. So I watched the seagulls diving in for fish. Sometimes there are manatees and dolphins there, but we didn't see any that day.
